Record numbers to tackle Frank Duffy 10
Entries close at midnight tomorrow for the National Lottery Frank Duffy 10 (August 20) -- the second event in the 2011 National Lottery Race Series.
The Frank Duffy 10 -- a race held in memory of the legendary Civil Service AC coach -- is expected to have another record entry of well over 7,000.
Because of the big entry, there have been some adjustments made to the opening mile of the event.
"We may yet have to close the entries a little earlier than expected as there has been huge demand," said race series director Jim AughneY.
"From today, it will have to be on the basis of a first come, first served basis for entries and there will definitely be no late entries accepted."
Entries for the National Lottery Frank Duffy 10 are still available today at www.dublinmarathon.ie.
Runners training for the Pat the Baker Longford Marathon on August 28 can test their fitness next Wednesday evening, when the Ballinamore 10k road race takes place in Leitrim at 7.30.
This is always a well-organised event with its own special charm. Entry fee is just €12 or €15 on race evening. There is also a 5km walk and fun run on the programme. Information from Patricia Griffin at 071 9644207.
After a lull of some years, the legendary Lakelands 15 in the midlands is back.
With a new look, thanks to the arrival of the M6 motorway, the race on Sunday, August 15 (12.0 start) will begin and finish in Tyrrellspass and takes in part of the N6 and N52 roads.
Entry is €30 before August 10 or €35 on race day. This is a welcome new addition to the road racing fixture list.
