IRISH Swimmer Sycerika McMahon took third place in her 200M medley in a personal best of 2:14.76, however it was not enough to see her through to the semis.

The result sees her finish in 22nd overall. The swimmer started strongly in her heat, seeing her placed second after the opening butterfly leg, however she dropped back after the backstroke leg.

However in the breaststroke leg she significantly upped her pace, placing her in poll position coming into the final 50M.

However in the final leg, which was freestyle, she was unable to hold off the advance of Ganna DzerKal of Ukraine (2:14.55) and Lisa Zaiser of Austria, seeing her finish in third, and not making the semi final.

The swimmer told RTE: "I gave it everything. I’d probably like to get a bit faster still to be honest, but what can you do? That was my lesson today".

"I suppose I’m pretty pleased, I’ll just go back to training after this and see what I can correct. There’s obviously a few areas which still need to be cleaned up. I definitely think I can go faster but we'll save that for another day. It was just a great experience coming here to London anyway, my main goal was to qualify so everything after that was a bonus", she continued.
