Daily Express editors were left red-faced this morning when they accidentally pictured the Dutch dressage team on their front page instead of Britain's Olympic gold medallists.

The paper hailed yesterday's winners by showing, from left to right, triathlete Alistair Brownlee, cyclist Laura Trott, and - unfortunately for the Express - the Netherlands dressage team, who took bronze.

The front page also featured a larger picture of Sir Chris Hoy, who won cycling gold yesterday and is one of the more well-known faces in Team GB.

The gaffe was quickly spotted and passed around social networking site Twitter, where the term 'Daily Express' was trending this morning
