Panic averted: Bray fans get to see Katie victory after power cut scare
DISASTER was narrowly averted in star boxer Katie Taylor’s home town today when a power blackout was fixed with just 10 minutes to go before her gold medal fight.
The electricity went off in houses across Bray, Co Wicklow, at 4:02pm due to a fault in an electricity substation.
Crews were immediately dispatched and managed to restore power by 4:35pm, just in time for Katie’s fight – which she went on to win 10-8 to take gold.
“We are really pleased to have supply restored in time to watch Katie Taylor's match,” the ESB said in a statement.
