O'Donovan brothers bounce back from tough heat to qualify for European semi-finals
Rio Olympic silver medal oarsmen, Gary and Paul O’Donovan, have qualified for the semi-final of the lightweight men’s doubles sculls at the European Championships in the Czech Republic
After a below par performance in the heats in which they finished six seconds behind the Polish pair of Milosz Jankowski and Jerry Kowalski, they won the repechage with two seconds to spare over the Ukrainian crew.
It remains to be seen how the extra race will impact on their performance in the semi-final.
Due to changes in the programme for the next Olympics, the men’s lightweight double sculls event is now more competitive than ever before.
