FORMER international Sean Nicholson is poised to return to top-class club hockey with Cork Harlequins after four years in the sporting wilderness.
The Munster man has been included in the Quins squad for their trip to play Monkstown in Saturday's Irish Hockey League fixture at Rathdown.
Nicholson (29) looked set for great things before a cruel run of injuries sidelined him, apparently for good.
However, the elegant defender emerged to play for more than an hour during Tuesday's 3-0 Munster League win over Bandon. Harlequins coach Phil Oakley has promised to bring a strong squad to Rathdown, though his side are out of IHL contention.
Monkstown are still very much in the mix, though, needing a good result to slip past Banbridge in the table and into the play-offs. The Dun Laoghaire outfit have a cruel injury list, with defender Rob Mason the latest to join the queue for surgery.
Meanwhile, Banbridge will also be in action in Dublin, where Glenanne, also out of contention, have vowed not to give the holders an easy ride.
