NFL star hospitalised after being shot in Miami
Suspended St. Louis Rams receiver Stedman Bailey was hospitalised with critical injuries after being shot in Miami, his NFL team confirmed on Tuesday.
Bailey, serving a four-game ban for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, was said to be in a "critical but stable" condition following the shooting.
"We are aware Stedman Bailey was involved in an incident this evening," the Rams said in a statement.
"We have spoken with Stedman and he is in the hospital in critical, but stable, condition. We are gathering facts about the situation and will provide updates as we learn more."
NFL Media reported on its website that Bailey was sitting in a car with members of his family including two young children and a cousin when a car pulled up alongside them and began shooting.
Bailey was said to have been shot twice in the head while his cousin was hit by multiple shots while protecting the children. He has life-threatening injuries, the report said.
