Kevin O'Brien is urging the unfamiliar faces in Ireland's squad to make a name for themselves today as he captains a below-strength side against Scotland in the first of three T20 internationals at Bready.
With a host of regulars unavailable because of county cricket commitments, O'Brien believes that there is a great opportunity for fringe men to impress new coach John Bracewell.
"As a team we are all thinking about next month's World T20 Qualifiers, and providing we do well in that, the WT20 finals early next year. So this week there is a great chance for everyone to put their hand up for future games," O'Brien said.
Among the new faces are Bready batsman David Rankin - brother of England paceman Boyd - and Merrion all-rounder Tyrone Kane.
