Nevin set for California after winning comeback
Olympic silver medallist John Joe Nevin is being lined up to fight in California next month after winning his first outings in 10 months at the home of baseball side Brooklyn Cyclones in New York on Tuesday night.
The former European Elite champion reckons he's back in the right place after stopping Mexican southpaw Victor Raul Capaceta in the third round in Coney Island.
"It's not the John Joe Nevin I want to be at the moment, but I'm sure that is going to come. It's catch-up time," said the ex AIBA World No 1 bantam.
Nevin dominated the first two rounds of the scheduled four-rounder and staggered Capaceta late in the third.
The Mexican appeared to be indicating that he was punched in the back of the head and didn't come out for the start of the fourth frame of the Dmitriy Salita Star of David promotion.
"It was a great shot, even the ref said it. I caught him and he was wobbling all over the place and he wanted out of there.
"It's not nice when you're out (of action) for that length," added Nevin.
