Murphy lead puts 'Rock on right road
A POWERFUL second half performance saw Limerick's Blackrock blast their way into the decider yesterday.
Trailing the Kilkenny and Leinster champions, Blacks & Whites, by three points after 30 minutes, the Munster men were a different prospect after the restart at Sean Treacy Park, Tipperary.
Within minutes they had cancelled the deficit, the pick of the scores coming from centre-back David Moloney, but Tom Farrell stunned the strong Limerick support when he kicked the sliotar past netminder Pat Heffernan to shoot the Kilkenny men back in front by the 38th minute.
Rather than stun Blackrock, the goal acted as spur to press on. Two frees from Richie McCarthy helped, before Aidan Murphy gave the Limerick side the lead for the first time with 12 minutes left on the clock and they never looked back.
Blackrock will now play Tyrone's St Colmcille's in the final on February 13.
