Motor Sport: Moore on top at Mondello
Yet another duel between Ray Moore and Lee Newsome was the feature of the Pony Express Formula Vee race at Mondello Park -- with veteran Moore getting the upper hand this time by less than a car's length.
However, the hero of the race was Kevin O'Hara, who was down in eighth place on the opening lap of the last stint. A series of fast laps hauled him up to third position at the chequered flag -- and he made history by becoming the first Formula Vee driver to take the class lap record under the magic one minute mark -- his best lap was 59.96 seconds.
Meanwhile, former karter Fergus Faherty scored his first victories since changing to cars, scoring a double in the Formula Libre races, beating Mark Crawford each time, while Jake Byrne won both of the Ginetta Junior races, with Alan Watkins taking the two Stryker events.
