Corrina Schumacher has written to a Donegal fan thanking her for her concern in relation to her stricken husband Michael.

The Formula One legend has been in a coma since his December 29 ski accident, when he badly injured his head, causing serious swelling of the brain, though his medical team are in the lengthy process of bringing Schumacher out of the induced coma.

According to the Donegal Democrat, Louise Dillon from Newtowncunningham in Donegal penned a letter to the legend last month having been a huge fan for many years and having travelled the globe to watch the legend race.

On Wednesday the Donegal woman was surprised to find a letter from Corrina, thanking the Irish woman for her kind words in support of her husband.

The letter, posted from Switzerland, also noted that Laura had kindly sent gifts from Knock in the letter.

“I would like to sincerely thank you for your message and for your lovely present which helps us to move forward in these difficult moments,” the letter read.

“It feels good to receive so many friendly wishes for recovery and other well-meant words. For our family it is wonderful support.”

“We know, he’s a fighter and he’s not giving up.”

“Thank you for your sympathy, Corinna Schumacher.”
