McCaffrey's reprieve

DUBLIN hurler Johnny McCaffrey has won a dramatic reprieve from suspension which will allow him to line out against Waterford tomorrow, writes CLIONA FOLEY.

McCaffrey looked set to miss the league opener after being red-carded in the recent Walsh Cup semi-final, but that was downgraded to a yellow at his appeal hearing.

Tomorrow's match at Walsh Park is a particularly big family occasion for the Mahony brothers -- Philip and Paudie, of Ballygunner -- who, like Darragh Fives, are both making their league debuts.

They will do so alongside their uncle, Shane O'Sullivan, who has been chosen at midfield along-side Philip.

WATERFORD (SH v Dublin) -- C Hennessy; D Fives, J Maher, N Connors; S Fives, M Walsh, J Nagle; S O'Sullivan, Philip Mahony; S Molumphy, R Foley, Paudie Mahony; S Casey, S Prendergast, T Ryan.
