Master's progress 'not good'
Clive Smith fears Master Minded's racing days may be over after the gelding underwent a tendon operation on Monday night.
"Unfortunately, the prognosis is not good," said owner Smith. "The injury was slightly more severe than first thought. They've patched him up and the hope now is that there is no infection. A piece has been taken out of a tendon on one of his front legs." Master Minded's injury occurred during Monday's King George VI Chase, won by his legendary stablemate Kauto Star.
Master Minded was once one of the best two-mile chasers around, netting £1,163,000 in prize money from 16 wins. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
