Madeley fires Wesley to title

Wesley 3 St Columba's 1

Wesley claimed the title with something to spare at Grange Road yesterday as they overturned a league loss to St Columba's.

Luke Madeley continued his fine week, opening the scoring inside two minutes before Mark Samuel's delightful touch to Madeley's crash ball made it 2-0 before the break.

Stu Ronan -- despite Wesley being reduced to nine men for two sin-binnings -- completed the win.

Harry Morris fired home a drag-flick to reduce the arrears with a couple of minutes to go but Columba's were unable to repeat their November league victory over their neighbours.

Wesley will endeavour to make it three titles in successive weeks when they take on St Andrew's in the Senior Cup final on Wednesday.

At U-13 level, captain Guy Sarratt scored twice to power St Andrew's to a 3-0 win over Wesley.
