John Anderson and Simmi Singh scored battling unbeaten half-centuries at Clontarf to force a draw against the Northern Knights and maintain champions Leinster Lightning's three-year unbeaten record in the Hanley Energy Interpro Championship.

Clearly stung by being dismissed for 77 - Lightning's lowest score in the three-day tournament - and being asked to follow on, the home side set their stall to avoid defeat on the final day and achieved their goal comfortably, reaching 222-2.

Merrion veteran Dom Joyce and YMCA youngster Jack Tector began the resistance, making 32 and 35 respectively before skipper Anderson and Singh embarked on an unbeaten partnership of 146 in 63 overs that sapped the energy from their opponents.

Singh top-scored with 75 not out from 203 balls while Anderson made a limpet-like 68 not out from 206 balls. The pair will need to find a much faster gear today when Lightning take on the North-West Warriors at 5pm in a Hanley Energy T20 clash at Anglesea Road.
