Lewis Hamilton: Mega job needed to catch us at Mercedes
Lewis Hamilton arrived for the European season in confident mood yesterday, declaring that reigning champions Red Bull will need to have done a "mega job" to bridge the gap to Mercedes.
After three wins in succession, the 29-year-old can capture the deserved championship lead at Sunday's Spanish grand prix. "Maybe others will be quick, but they will have to have done a mega job to have closed the gap in this period of time, considering we've also made a step this weekend," Hamilton said last night.
Hamilton has switched Monaco apartments in the three-week break since China, but would rather have been behind the wheel of his dominant Mercedes.
"It's been too long a break," he said ahead of the race at Circuit de Catalunya. "It's not disruptive, I just love driving. I would drive every week if I could."
His Mercedes team have hired a sports psychologist, but Hamilton describes each race weekend as a "mental game" yet he will not turn to Dr Ceri Evans.
