The Irish Field will reveal this week that Irish showjumping champion Cruising was cloned twice.

Cruising is widely regarded regarded as one of the best jumping stallions ever bred in Ireland, winning Grands Prix all over Europe and jumping on winning Nations Cup teams for Ireland in the late 1990s both here and abroad.

The grey died in 2014 after siring a number of top class showjumpers  but The Irish Field’s Catriona Murphy revealed on RTE's Radio One this evening that the stallion was cloned twice before he died.

The clones, who were born in 2012 and have been well hidden up to now, will take up stud duties this year and become the first clones to stand in Ireland.
