Jessie Barr and Stephanie Reilly qualify for finals at Euro Championships in Helsinki
JESSIE Barr and Stephanie Reilly have both qualified for their respective finals at the European Championship in Finland today.
Barr, from Co. Waterford, ran a personal best of 55.93 to claim a fastest loser place in the first semi-final of the 400m hurdles at Helsinki’s Olympic Stadium.
Barr (22) knocked 13 hundredths off her personal best, which she set in May.
But her time is still outside the Olympic A standard.
Reilly, from Co. Wicklow, finished sixth in the second semi of the 3,000m in a time of 9.44.15.
But he faces a huge challenge as that is the 13th fastest time going into Saturday’s final.
Jessie Barr’s brother Thomas failed in his bid for a final in the semi-final of 400m hurdles..
