Jayfkay turns up the heaT
IT was a spectacular weekend for the Irish in the English Derby at Wimbledon, with no fewer than six heat winners, which included a treble for Dolores Ruth.
Ruth's star performer, Razldazl Jayfkay ,was established as the 3/1 favourite with the sponsors after a spectacular effort.
Razldazl Jayfkay was quite scintillating as he pulverised his rivals, winning by 13 and a half lengths from fellow Irish runner Droopys Jet in a track record time of 28.08.
This awesome display capped a fantastic weekend for the Rathangan trainer who also had two winners in Friday's session, with Razldazl Bugatti and Razldazl Rioga also most impressive.
Another Irish challenger to sparkle was Michael O'Donovan's Judicial Ruling as he stormed to a runaway 28.19 success and it really is beginning to look as though this Classic is destined to be won by an Irish challenger.
It was also a big night at Shelbourne on Saturday, with Ruairi Dwan's Borna Gem springing a big upset in the final of the Puppy Oaks.
She took over from the red- hot favourite Airforce Diva on the opening bend and ran on to win by two and a half lengths in 28.43.
Ruth's big weekend continued at Shelbourne where her three challengers qualified for the final of the Betfair 600. Kingo won his heat in 32.46 from Tibetan Skies and Razldazl George.
The other heat produced the best time as Brendan O'Shea's Crossfield Star sprang a 6/1 surprise as he led from the first bend to beat Rockchase Bullet and Razldazl Will emphatically in 32.36.
