Ireland's Jono Carroll took his professional record to 9-0 after he defeated Miguel Gonzalez in Dusseldorf tonight.

With all the focus set to be on the heavyweight title showdown between Wladimir Klitschko and his challenger Fury, Ireland's own Jono Carroll  managed to catch the eye early in one of the preliminary contestes.

Carroll, a 23 year-old super featherweight, consistently bettered his Honduran foe in the early goings and would enjoy almost complete control of the 10-round bout, though the opportunity to win inside the distance never looked like materialising.

Coached by Packie Collins, the brother of Steve, Carroll fights out of the infamous Celtic Warriors Gym in Dublin, and has been turning heads since going pro in 2012.
