Irish amateur Leona Maguire finishes second in European Masters
Irish amateur golfer Leona Maguire came so close to creating history today when she finished second on the professional tour at the European Masters.
Cavan native Maguire went into today's final round tied in fourth place and produced a brilliant round of 69, that included six birdies, to finish on 11-under-par and just one behind eventual winner Beth Allen from America.
Maguire, the number one amateur in the world, was level with Allen going down the 18th but a bogey meant she missed out on a chance of a play-off.
At just 20 years of age, the future is bright for one of Ireland's golfing talents.
