In brief: Easter treat for Taylor fans

Katie Taylor will have her next outing in her home town of Bray, Wicklow.

The 20010 AIBA World Female Boxer of the Year is slated to meet Spain's Jennifer Miranda at the Royal Hotel in Bray on Good Friday.

Taylor will have two further fights in Ireland next month ahead of the European Union Championships in Poland, where she will be aiming for her fourth EU title on the trot.


Sam Barry yesterday powered his way to a second big scalp in a row on the Thailand ITF men's Futures circuit when he put the No 2 seed Joshua Milton to the sword on a 6-1 6-3 margin.

Amy Bowtell, No 1 seed in qualifying, beat Sweden's Valeria Osadchekno 6-2 6-0 to book a main draw place in the ITF women's circuit event in Antalya, Turkey.


Kumar Sangakkara has stepped down as captain of Sri Lanka's one-day international and Twenty20 sides and said he also intends to relinquish the captaincy of the Test team.
