Alex Speers’ strike 71 seconds from time salvaged a shoot-out chance that Pegasus would not relinquish in Banbridge yesterday.

It was their first success in this competition since its introduction as the premier title, denying Loreto who bossed the first 67 minutes but only had a contentious Siofra O’Brien goal to show for their efforts. Pegs belatedly found a sharp attacking intent.

The shoot-out followed and keeper Megan Todd took over then, keeping out two while Kate Gourley, Michelle Harvey and Taite Doherty all scored for a famous success.
