Murray hero as Lisnagarvey put paid to Banbridge
Irish Senior Cup holders Banbridge surrendered their crown as they tumbled to first round 2-3 defeat at the hands of arch rivals Lisnagarvey.
The Ulster derby clash was settled in dramatic style by superbly struck winner from Sean Murray in the final minute at Havelock Park.
Elsewhere, all the EY Hockey League sides in action in the men's competition progressed with the minimum of fuss against lesser ranked opponents.
Pembroke Wanderers, Annadale and Monkstown knocked in a combined total of 16 goals without reply.
Railway Union conceded one, scored by Clontarf's Kevin Murray, but still came through safely on a 3-1 scoreline.
In the women's cup, Lurgan put indifferent Ulster League form behind them as they dumped EY side Trinity out 2-0.
