Katie Mullan got one over her former UCD teammate Deirdre Duke to land the German Bundesliga title with Club an der Alster in the final at Krefeld.

Going into the finals weekend, there was a guaranteed Irish winner with all four playoff sides featuring a World Cup silver medalist.

Mullan's Alster saw off Nikki Evans's UHC Hamburg - the regular season champions - 5-0 in a breathtaking performance. The other side of the draw saw Duke's Dusseldorfer HC fight back to beat Megan Frazer's Mannheimer HC 3-2 to earn their place in the decider.

The final was a close-run battle which ended 1-1 with Sabine Markert and Felicia Wiedermann sharing goals in the first 17 minutes but Alster held their nerve in the shoot-out to claim the laurels in front of over 3,000 fans.

David Harte remains on course for a potential third successive Dutch title with SV Kampong after they beat HGC 3-2 in the second leg of their best of three series on Saturday. Having won the first leg, the tie puts Harte and Kampong through to the three-game final series against HC Bloemendaal which starts in midweek.
