Hockey: Ireland thump Argentina

Ireland resumed their giant-killing ways at the Five Nations tournament in Paris yesterday with a thumping win over Argentina.

Paul Revington's men built on a superb start, with Mikey Watt poaching his fourth goal in three matches.

The Irish, who defeated highly- rated Korea earlier in the week, were three ahead by the break, thanks to John Jermyn and Timmy Cockram also.

Goalkeeper David Harte was beaten just the once, from a penalty from Pedro Ibarra, though Ignacio Bergner hit a post.

But the last word fell to on-fire Watt, the Santander club man putting Ireland out of sight with his second strike of the day close to the end of proceedings.

Ireland, who lost to Australia on Wednesday, are still in with a chance of overall victory as they play hosts France today.
