Higgins knocks out Rocket in Glasgow
Ronnie O'Sullivan bowed out of the Scottish Open, losing 5-2 to quarter-final opponent John Higgins in Glasgow yesterday.
O'Sullivan was on the back foot after losing the first three frames, the highlight of which was a break of 88 in the second by Scot Higgins.
Although the five-time world champion won two of the next three, the first with a doubled pink, Higgins finished the contest off in style with a break of 104.
World No 3 Higgins said: "Any time you beat Ronnie it's a special result, even though he didn't play anywhere near his best. He gave me a few chances too many.
"You always have to feel you can get back into it otherwise there's no point."
Higgins faces Judd Trump in the best-of-11 frame semi-finals after the latter defeated fellow Englishman Robert Milkins 5-3.
