Greyhounds: Whitesox dominates

The Tyrur stars, Enda and Big Mike, successfully launched their challenges for the Pat Hennerty Sales Irish Laurels at Curraheen Park on Saturday night, but their thunder was stolen by the Kieran Lennon-owned Jonny Whitesox with a brilliant performance as he clocked 28.16.

Having run with real promise in the Irish Derby, Jonny Whitesox flew from traps in Heat 7 and raced away for a five-length margin over Royal Tornado.

Derby runner-up Tyrur Big Mike appeared at sea on the Curraheen circuit and it was his courage that carried him to a neck victory over Barnbrook Again in 28.95.

Tyrur Enda was led to near the third bend in Heat 14, but he proved the stronger on the run-in to beat Colorful Champ and Shiloh Sublime in 28.33. Pat Buckley had a double with Tullymurry Act in 28.48 and Beaming Dilemma in 29.66, while Paul Hennessy also rowed in with a double, courtesy of Tranquil Time in 28.68 and De Ex Factor in 28.39.

The Droopys Stud Munster Oaks is now down to the final six after impressive semi-final victories at Waterford on Saturday night for Michael Frayne's Clearview Kelly in 28.51 and Dan Greene's Back To Shannon in 28.32.

The other big Saturday feature was the Agri Store Fair Warrior Sprint at Mullingar and the fastest semi-final winners were Inny Blue and Cavies Tucks, both in 21.45. Other heat winners were Go Butler (21.73) and Springwell Dill (21.81).
