Greyhounds: Old order is restored

THE old order has been quickly restored at Shelbourne with regular leading trainer Paul Hennessy already setting the pace in the 2011 trainers' race.

On Saturday night, the Gowran handler turned out three winners in a clear statement that his string is in prime order in advance of the first major of the season, the Tyrur McGuigan Open 575 which kicks off next Saturday.

Master Blaster will be one of his runners in that event and this fellow produced a really powerful effort when coming from four lengths behind Whatsupjack to win by half a length in 31.56 over the 575-yard trip. A repeat of this running will have him right to the forefront in the Tyrur competition.

Earlier, Hennessy was on the mark with Hello Ringo as he won in 28.92 and then doughty veteran stayer Group Skater dropped down in distance to grab a late victory over Three One Three in an open 525 in 29.29.

Another trainer expected to have a big year is Dolores Ruth, and two of her potential stars are the comrades Razldazl Joe and Barack, members of the high-flying Kinloch Brae/ Razldazl Pearl litter.

Barack was fastest of the night as he flew home by eight lengths in 28.66 and later Joe was a four-and-a-half length winner in 28.84.
