Greyhounds: Kingo finds more in tank

Dolores Ruth's Kingo gave an outstanding display in the second round of the Hegarty Bookmakers 600 at Shelbourne on Saturday when gaining an easy victory in 32.33.

A week earlier he had stopped the clock in 32.49 but went even quicker on this occasion as he assumed command with a fast start and won by four lengths from Croom Star.

Tyrur Domingo again had to perform an escape act to win his heat in 32.79. PJ Fahy's dog took a bump on the first bend when in front and lost his balance and a lot of ground. However, he rallied strongly to beat Whatsupjack by a short head.

Frances O'Donnell's Skywalker Cindy produced a huge finishing kick to overhaul Droopys Joe for a half-length victory in 32.57, while Pat Gordon's Fatboyz Tyson led from the bend for a three-quarters-of-a-length margin over Master Blaster in an identical time.

Owen McKenna's Tubbertelly Dubh is going to take some beating in the Larry Dunne Open 525 on the evidence of his brilliant 28.25 run. He scorched from the traps and came home six lengths in front of Leeview Jet.

Allowdale Prince completed a double for McKenna when leading all the way in 28.50. The other heat winners were Liam O'Rourke's Ballymac Tipp in 28.61 and Jerry Melia's Head Rock in 28.64.

Meanwhile, at Curraheen Park the Barry's Tea 750 got under way and fastest on the clock was Denis Shanahan's Kielduff Merc as he led all the way in 42.47. The other heat winners were Colourful Fox in 42.55, Kerryroad Baba in 42.63 and Dawningoftheday in 42.65.
