Greyhounds: Kingo extends Ruth run

It is turning into a dream year for Rathangan trainer Dolores Ruth and the members of the Dazzling Syndicate. Kingo landed the odds in a thrilling €20,000 Hegarty Bookmakers 600 final at Shelbourne Park, weeks after they enjoyed a terrific 1-2 in the Easter Cup.

Kingo had reached the final unbeaten and he went off an odds-on favourite.

He just got to the bend from a wall of rivals and was chased into the back by Droopys Joe with Master Blaster going third, half way down the far side.

Droopys Joe closed right up into the third bend but Kingo still led by a length turning for home.

But Droopys wasn't going away and Kingo was at full stretch to hold him by half a length in 32.68, with Master Blaster three parts of a length back in third.

Ruth also recorded a fantastic treble in the heats of the English Derby at Wimbledon as Razldazl Jayfkay posted the fastest time of the opening round and Razldazl George and Makeshift also scored in very fast times.

The Graham Holland- trained Leeview Jet sprang a surprise in the final of the Larry Dunne Open 525 where the favourite Tubbertelly Dubh missed the kick from the inside box. Leeview Jet kept on strongly to win by two and a half lengths from Cian Abbey in 29.44, with Deerfield Music in third.

The John Linehan-trained Droopys Twirl won the Healthcare & Transport Services Puppy Oaks final as she overhauled Shelbourne Abi at the third bend and then shot clear to win by four and a half lengths from Ballymac Razl in 28.55.
