Greyhounds: Kerry Agribusiness Irish St Leger first round

Deadly Duo

There is high-class action on a number of fronts nationwide this evening with the Kerry Agribusiness Irish St Leger first round taking pole position at the new Limerick Stadium.

Most of the leading fancies for the Leger were in action last night but a few of tonight's runners could go a long way in the competition.

Some of these clash in the first of tonight's qualifiers, Heat 9, where Joey Jojo Junior, De Ex Factor and Slippery Bob will all have strong support. The draw seems to favour Joey Jojo Junior, which burned it up on the track's opening night.

Tom O'Neill's Dream Walker can play a big role in Heat 10. Paul Hennessy's Tranquil Time and Pat Buckley's Slick Legend will take all the beating in the other heats.

At Shelbourne, the first round of the Comerford Cakes National Puppy Stake brings out the top youngsters and Farloe Force, having clocked 28.23 in his trial around the Ringsend circuit, will be a strong fancy to win Heat 5, where Colourful Fox will be the main rival.

Few pups have made a bigger impression this year than Marie Gilbert's Mozzletoff and she can again display her class in the opening heat, where Modern Man and Pennys Viking must be respected. Another with leading prospects in this competition is the Mossie O'Connor-trained Deerfield Music and his scorching pace can carry him to victory from Rockchase Zico in Heat 2.

Cool Dude can see off Bling Bling Joe and Taylors Sky in Heat 4. Tommy O'Donovan's Simple Class could be the answer to the final heat.

The bitches dominate the fare at Thurles in the second round of the Track Bookmakers Champion Bitch Stake.

The John O'Flynn-trained Foyle Storm could be one to note in the opening heat while Shelbourne Dawn looks drawn to win Heat 3. Air Force Ellie and Calling Spice can serve up a thriller in Heat 4.
