Greyhounds: Broadstrand on form

The stars arrived at Shelbourne on Saturday and they turned on the style in the opening round of the valuable Tote Gold Cup.

Star performer was the Cork challenger Broadstrand Lad as he stopped the clock in 29.76 in registering a most impressive Heat 7 victory.

John Linehan's charge displayed top early pace to lead all the way, clearing the first bend comfortably as there was trouble in behind. From there he went on to win by five lengths from Cians Fantasy.

It was just a spot faster than John Robinson's Quick Lee as he flew to the bend to win Heat 3 by two and a half lengths from Razldazl Broadway in 29.77.

Tyrur Domingo was a runaway winner in 29.78 as he completed a double for Conor Fahy, who was earlier on the mark with Tyrur Henry in 30.39. Dolores Ruth was also in double form as she scored with Razldazl Lord in 30.18 and Razldazl George in 29.81.

There was also super fare at Limerick, where the complete first round of the Roches Feeds Oaks was run.

Fastest here was Mary Jo Dalton's Express Trend as she flew home in 28.29, while others to impress were Borna Del with a 28.49 run, Ballymac Lefanta in 28.52, Shelbourne Dawn in 28.59 and Kiln Kylie, which produced a huge run from the pack to snatch victory in 28.67.
