Greyhound Racing: Punters six clicks away from €70,000 bonanza

With a guaranteed minimum pool of €70,000 acting as a massive carrot, the Pick 6 Intertrack Jackpot will be the main focus of the track scene this weekend.

There's bound to be a huge increase in punters taking part, because, for the first time, visitors to will be able to bet live into the pool. This can be done by following the 'Bet Now' link and registering on the site.

The jackpot, which operates weekly on three races at Limerick and another three at Shelbourne, survived last week, despite two units remaining in the final leg.

The defeat of Jimmy Boy meant it was again carried over and tomorrow night's pot is going to test the punters to the limit.

Meanwhile, the only open racing in the country tonight will be at Clonmel's session in the Festival of Racing.

The two semi-finals of the Mythen Construction Open Sprint are down for decision and the two-run stake features the Irish Sprint Cup winner CAMBUSHMORE.

Graham Holland's dog had a warm-up trial over 525 yards at Shelbourne last Saturday when caught on the line by Money Talks in 28.57. He should be too good for his rivals in the second heat (8.45).

The other heat sees Michael O'Donovan's STONEPARK CRASH in action and his early pace should make up for a worrying outside box.

The going was tough at Harold's Cross last Friday and it found out Liam O'Rourke's fine young prospect BALLYMAC NIALL as he was caught late by Boundforthestars. The pair clash again tonight (9.55) and, assuming that the ground is more lively than last time, Ballymac Niall can turn the tables.

Tommy Bolton has been enjoying a reasonable run and his SPORTSMAN KEANO should take an early lead in an A3 contest (9.40) – he'll be difficult to pass.

Enniscorthy KO

Last night's meeting at Enniscorthy had to be called off after lightning on Wednesday night caused significant damage to the hare system. The card will be run next Thursday and it is hoped that trials will take place on Tuesday.

Thurles Sales

A big team of British buyers is expected at Thurles today for the traditional pre-Clonmel Sales. There is a quality catalogue of 909 lots. The overflow entries will be catered for at another sales event on February 16.
