Greyhound racing: Phanter Easter Cup

The semi-finals of the College Causeway/Killahan Phanter Easter Cup will be run at Shelbourne tonight and the exciting news is that next Saturday's final will be shown live on Sky Sports.

Sky will be transmitting a live programme on the night from the Scottish Derby final at Shawfield and the plan is to take a live feed from Shelbourne at 9.45, with the local final going off at 10.10.

Just which dogs will contest the Easter Cup final will be decided this evening, with two very open-looking semis. The opening heat could prove an all-the-way battle between Makeshift and Broadstrand Lad.

The latter is due a good start after missing the kick in recent outings and is worth a look at what should be reasonable odds.

The second heat looks set up for Slippery Bob, which can win the early battle from Mozzletoff and can then hold off the anticipated challenge from Razldazl George.

The meeting of Tyrur Big Mike and Razldazl Jayfkay will be a real highlight in the concluding race and one hopes both dogs run to their full potential.

Another big attraction tonight at Shelbourne is the €20,000 guaranteed Pick 6 pool.

The semi-finals of the McCarthy Insurance Group Oaks will be run at Curraheen, with Tyrur Tinkerbell and Borna Client put forward as a likely double. The other heat can feature a big early-paced battle between Calling Spice and Lady Lucielle.

Also tonight, three Irish dogs will be on duty in the Scottish Derby semis at Shawfield, with Pablo Supreme and Farloe Force giving Owen McKenna big hopes of a double.

Tomorrow, attentions turn to the Red Mills Produce Stakes, where Craig Kelly's Spearhawk faces the likes of Piercestown Sand and Jamaican Man in the third heat. Bet of the evening can be the Mick Delahunty-trained Happy Hermit, a likely winner of Heat 5.
