UTV Ireland has announced that Ger Gilroy will present the channel’s weekly sports round-up Live at 10 programme with newly appointed Ireland Live sports reporters Marie Crowe and Bernard O’Toole.

Gilroy will continue to present Newstalk’s multi-award winning ‘Off the Ball’ sports show, will begin broadcasting with UTV Ireland tomorrow night at 10.30pm on Ireland Live at 10.

Gilroy began working with Newstalk in 2002 and has served as the station’s Sports Editor,  is a co-founder of Balls.ie and has written extensively for the Irish Independent, The Sunday Business Post and The Herald.

"UTV Ireland has assembled a great team and I am delighted to be working alongside Marie and Bernard – two excellent sports journalists," he said.

"The Ireland Live at 10 sports segment will equip sports fans with everything they need to know about the weekend of sport ahead and I am really looking forward to our first broadcast tomorrow evening.”

 Marie Crowe joins UTV Ireland from the Sunday Independent, where she was a sports reporter for five years, and Bernard O’Toole joins the channel from FM104, where he led the station’s sports coverage for 12 years.

“Ger is a top-tier sports broadcaster with an encyclopaedic knowledge for sport – so, naturally we felt he would be a great fit for the programme. He is also hugely respected by sports professionals, by his peers in the media and by the fantastic following he has generated throughout his broadcasting career.

With Marie and Bernard covering the latest from the world of sport throughout the week, Ger completes the UTV Ireland sports team and I am delighted to welcome him to the channel.”
