geoff to miss dundalk
Shelbourne Geoff was withdrawn yesterday morning just prior to the announcement of the field for the Boylesports International at Dundalk on Thursday.
Pat Curtin's tracker sustained an injury in a trial around the Louth track on Friday and his Irish Derby participation now hangs in the balance.
His place in the Dundalk invitation has been taken by Cabra Millie; the other five runners are Kingo, Milldean Panther, Milldean Tally, Quail Hollow and Razldazl George. The draw will be made this morning.
There were some magnificent performances at Shelbourne on Saturday night, with Tibetan Skies' victory in the Ladbrokes Derby Trial Stake the highlight of an Owen McKenna treble. Tibetan came with a typically late challenge to collar Danmar Benny close home for a neck verdict in a most impressive 29.66.
Earlier, McKenna had been on the mark with Confident Rankin, which clocked a brilliant 28.22, and Airforce Frankie in 30.02.
The run of the night was produced by Liam Dowling's Ballymac Vic as he won an Open 550 in 29.47. Runner-up in the Betdaq Race of Champions the previous week, Ballymac Vic was in command from the opening turn and strode out majestically to a five-and-a-half length margin over Ballybough Hawke.
The Ruairi Dwan-trained Borna Gem gave her rivals in the Tyrur McGuigan Open 525 final a start and a beating. She came from well off the pace at halfway to beat Dragon Shield by half a length in 28.77.
