For the fourth time this year, the Donegal-Derry combination of Donagh Kelly and Kevin Flanagan beat all their opposition to score a major rally win.

They added yesterday's Abbey Hotel-Casey's Topaz Moto event in Roscommon to their previous victories in Galway, Abbeyleix and West Cork, increasing their lead in the Triton Showers National Rally Championship.

After nine stages based in Roscommon town, their Focus WRC was more than two minutes ahead of the Impreza of former three times champion Niall Maguire, with Alan Ring third in another Impreza, almost a minute further behind.

However, this time, Kelly and Flanagan didn't have things all their own way, taking the lead only on the final stage after holding second position all day.

Donegal cousins Declan and Brian Boyle, the National title holders for the last two years, led from the start and built up a lead of 16 seconds, only for their bad fortune this year to strike again.

Just as in the opening national series round in Birr, they picked up a puncture, losing more than four minutes on the last stage this time, which dropped them to eighth place.
