Cian O'Connor finished sixth with Super Sox in yesterday's Longines FEI World Cup qualifier in London, where Italy's Emanuele Gaudiano came out on top.
The Meath rider and Wexford's Bertram Allen were the Irish representatives at this seventh leg of the 11-round Western European qualifying series. And both jumped clear over the tough first course to go into the 17-horse jump-off.
O'Connor was fifth to go against the clock and produced a brilliant run from Super Sox, who again gave all the fences plenty of air, but Allen left two on the floor with Quiet Easy and had to settle for 13th place.
Gaudiano clinched the win with a heart-stopping run from Admara, who pinned four of the strong British contingent into second, third, fourth and fifth places.
