Denis Lynch finished third with The Sinner in the five-star Grand Prix at the Paris Masters yesterday.

Australia's Edwina Tops-Alexander reigned supreme with the mare California to claim the €99,000 winner's purse, with Italy's Alberto Zorzi (Contanga) lining up second. The Irishman collected €45,000 when his time of 47.03 seconds left him in third in the seven-horse jump-off.

Lynch has only been partnered with the 10-year-old gelding since July, but the horse previously competed by Czech Republic's Kamil Papousek at two- and three-star level has blossomed in the hands of the Tipperaryman. The pair shared victory with Frenchman Simon Delestre and Chadino in Saturday's Six-Bar competition.

Cork's Billy Twomey was also in the ribbons at the French fixture when runner-up with the incredibly consistent 14-year-old Irish-bred Ardcolum Duke, in Thursday's Hubside Speed won by America's Spencer Smith.

Bertram Allen returned to his happy hunting ground at the Sweden International Horse Show in Stockholm where he has accumulated a fleet of cars in previous years, and the 23-year-old Wexford rider lined up fifth in the Grand Prix with GK Casper and second in the Special Masters riding Christy Jr yesterday.

And he came out on top in the Young Horse final with the seven-year-old Ballwalter stallion, Guinness, who looks another promising future prospect.
