Bertram Allen won the Jockey Club Cup on the opening day of the Hong Kong Masters yesterday riding Quiet Easy to push Finland's Anna-Julia Kontio into the runner-up spot.

Billy Twomey is also competing at the event, which concludes with tomorrow's big-money Longines Grand Prix, and yesterday the Corkman announced the retirement of his brilliant mare, Tinka's Serenade, at the great age of 19.

Elsewhere, Shane Sweetnam won Thursday's Ruby & Violette Challenge with Dillenger at the Winter in Florida.

Meanwhile, the long list of event riders for the Olympic Games has been confirmed, and includes Cathal Daniels and Rioghan Rua who were on last year's winning Irish Nations Cup Eventing team in Holland.

Austin O'Connor, Michael Ryan, Joseph Murphy, Aoife Clarke, Clare Abbott, Sam Watson and Jonty Evans are also listed.

Padraig McCarthy and Mark Kyle conclude the selection.
