Boxing: Ireland will have at least four boxers at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Ballymena welter Steven Donnelly was last night informed that he had qualified through the World Series of Boxing (WSB)

Donnelly qualified after Andrey Zamkovoy beat Radzhab Butaev in the Russian Elite 69kg final in Samara on Sunday in a box-off for a place at Rio 2016. Butaev and Zamkovoy both earned Olympic quota places for Rio through the WSB and AIBA Pro Boxing in the welter class.

However, Russia can only send one to Rio, and Zamokoy beating Butaev meant that Butaev couldn't take the WSB place which now goes to Donnelly. Paddy Barnes, Michael Conlan, Joe Ward have also qualified.
