Dog chat: Therapy in flying form ahead of Puppy tilt

Uncertainty is the best word to describe the greyhound scene at the moment as the week's schedule is dependent on the weather conditions.

Harold's Cross, Enniscorthy and Newbridge were forced to call off their meetings last night.

The track at the Cross was actually passed fit for racing, but the meeting was called off for safety reasons. It is hoped there will be racing there tonight. Enniscorthy will not race tonight however, while the Youghal card will stand for next Monday.

There will be an inspection at Shelbourne this morning to decide on the track's suitability for racing tomorrow night.

It would be a terrible blow if the weekend schedule is disrupted, with such a heavy programme of Open racing listed to take place.

The semi-finals of the Comerford Cakes National Puppy Stake will be run at Shelbourne and these two semi-finals are going to test the form experts to the limit.

The first heat is a real poser, with Beaming Therapy surging up the rankings last weekend, and a repeat would see him right in the mix. Simple Class ran a blinder behind Farloe Force, while Rockchase Zico finished like a train behind Greenwell Club.

Mozzletoff has been a little disappointing in the competition thus far but is more than able to step it up, while Boxie is improving fast and Talktoyoulad is a flying finisher.

The second heat is similarly teasing with Farloe Force, Deerfield Music and Greenwell Club likely to be involved in the early battle, while Colourful Fox will be flying from halfway.

Both Bling Bling Joe and Fastaway King are drawn to run big races.

Many preconceived ideas about the Kerry Agribusiness Irish St Leger have already gone out the window and Larry Dunne's Slippery Bob emerged as a leading contender with a 29.60 weekend run.

He can again lead up in the first heat, where Farley Turbo and Skywalker Queen could be the main dangers.

Judicial Academy also surged up the rankings with a 29.68 victory and he looks the likely winner of Heat 2.

It is difficult to oppose Westmead Bolt in the third heat, while the fourth heat will see Ballyhannon taken on by Beaming Dilemma, Colorful Champ, Thurlesbeg Joker and Mustang Johnny.
