Dog chat: Jayfkay in sizzling form ahead of Juvenile challenge
Juveniles are very much in the spotlight, with Dolores Ruth challenging for the Racing Post Juvenile Championship at Wimbledon tonight and the high-profile Gallivan Murphy Hooper Dolan Insurances Juvenile Classic commencing at Tralee on Friday.
Razldazl Jayfkay will be the Ruth representative this evening and he has been installed the 6/4 ante-post favourite ahead of the highly rated Boher Paddy. Jayfkay has been impressive in trials and displayed awesome pace in a losing outing at Wimbledon a few weeks ago.
Tralee reported yesterday that they will have a full entry for the Juvenile Classic which closes to entries this morning, with the draw to be made in mid-afternoon.
The established stars will have their own targets at the weekend, with the top dogs contesting the second round of the Tote Gold Cup at Shelbourne, while the bitches will be involved in the second round of the Roches Feeds Oaks at Limerick.
The fancied runners have been divided up pretty evenly between the four Tote Gold Cup heats.
The hottest may be the final qualifier, where heat winners Razldazl Lord, Tyrur Henry and Quick Lee will be in opposition, with the early-paced Jonny Whitesox thrown in for good measure.
Tyrur Domingo showed great determination in winning his heat on Saturday and will need to repeat that performance in the opening heat, in which all six runners are entitled to respect.
Broadstrand Lad can dominate the second heat, while Razldazl George is the one to beat in the third heat.
Mozzletoff was disappointing in the opening round of the Limerick feature and she will need to step up considerably to survive her second-round heat, where Borna Del, Glen Padden Bay and Cornamaddy Swift will be in opposition.
Fastest first-round winner Express Trend goes in Heat 3, where Razldazl Alice is the obvious danger.
Two that caught the eye with their big finishes on Saturday were Inshaarla and Kiln Kylie and they take on heat winners Tyrur Tinkerbell and Gone To Mirah in the second heat.
