Davis Cup: Ireland draws Hungary in away tie

IRELAND has been drawn to against away to Hungary in round one of the Davis Cup Euro/Africa Zone Group II next year.

Hungary is nine places above Ireland in the Davis Cup rankings.

But Ireland has the highest ranked player between the countries. Conor Niland is at 206th in the ATP list. This is 23 places above their number one. Adam Kellner.

The match will take place between February 10th and 12th. A venue has yet to be finalised.

Ireland captain Garry Cahill believes his side has a great chance against their seeded opponents.

“Although the match is away for our team I am confident that we can win this tie. I don’t fear any team in our group,” he said.

The winners of the tie will meet Egypt or Latvia in round two on April 6th-8th.
