Dan Martin 'speechless' after Temple Street kids send messages of support
Dan Martin has received widespread support since a serious fall ended his participation in the Giro d'Italia and was particularly touched by some thoughtful Irish kids today.
The 27 year-old Irish cyclist saw his Giro aspirations lended ess than fifteen minutes into the team timetrial in Belfast on the opening stage of the competition.
The Garmin-Sharp team leader required surgery on his collarbone and yesterday took to social media to give thanks for the support he has received since the fall.
“Thanks for the amazing support since crash,” he said.
“Feel very lucky to have such great family/friends who visited and organised surgery for me and Koldo in Dublin."
Today he was keen to show his appreciation for the messages of support from the children of temple Street Hospital, tweeting a sample of the well-wishes that have come his way.
“Speechless. Thanks kids @Temple_Street made my day. I'll come visit asap,” he tweeted.
Martin has said he will focus on a speedy return and has not ruled out participating at the Tour de France.
