Kittel wins his third stage by a whisker
Marcel Kittel won Stage 7 of the Tour de France - his third of the race - in a photo finish after edging out Norwegian Edvald Boasson Hagen by the narrowest of margins .
There was a scramble to check the rules on a dead heat after just 0.0003 seconds separated the pair on the line in Nuits-Saint-George.
That equated to just six millimetres at the end of the 213.5km stage from Troyes.
"When I crossed the line, I really had no clue if I won or not," Kittel said. If anything, Boasson Hagen is more a man for an uphill sprint, so he could not be too disappointed.. "I'm not a sprinter actually for these flat stages, so I am really happy to be up there," the Norwegian said.
