George Dockrell is hoping his Leinster Lightning side can kick off a festival of T20 cricket at Sydney Parade with victory over Middlesex tonight in the inaugural Summer Smash before embarking on three InterPro games in as many days.

Lightning captain Dockrell has nine Ireland internationals to call on from a squad that should provide a stern test for the English county side, plus he is boosted with the inclusion of Matt Ford, the Malahide batsman and son of national coach Graham.

"We've got good clean hitters and guys with great T20 skills with the ball, and with the games coming thick and fast, we know this is just the start of a big next couple of weeks," Dockrell said.

The focus for Ireland will be on T20 cricket this year with a series scheduled against Zimbabwe next month, followed by World Cup qualifiers in the autumn.
