Cricket: Ireland World hopes still alive
Ireland can still qualify for the 2013 Women's World Cup despite losing their second game at the qualifying tournament to Pakistan by eight wickets in Bangladesh yesterday.
Victories against Japan tomorrow and the hosts on Friday should still be enough to give them third place and a play-off game next week for a place in the finals.
Ireland put up an improved batting performance after their capitulation against West Indies on Monday and they totalled 140 against Pakistan.
Merrion's Elena Tice, who celebrates her 14th birthday today, took a wicket with her third ball. But despite Eimear Richardson conceding only 18 runs in 10 overs, Pakistan did not lose another wicket as they reached their target in the 33rd over.
